OPEN THREAD: Are People Actually Excited About Avatar?
I’m torn on the Avatar scions. While I plan on seeing the large screen anyway, thus making the following deliberation open to debate, I’m still trying to shape sense of exactly what to wish when I walk into that theater (seven hours break of dawn, cause that’s what everyone does in this dull city).
On one hand, the reviews are quite unanimously positive, the praise itself has been borderline dazzling from some circles (”It’s gonna substitution filmmaking so much, this is word for word the first movie ever made!!”), and James Cameron, despite the fact that he hasn’t made a blockbuster in a while, extremely hasn’t ever made a sad movie (I’m not a Titanic devotee, but it’s hard to awaiting orders within earshot the most successful film of all period a “bad” movie).
On the other together, though, every time I see those morose people, I feel like the attendant in The Emperor’s New Clothes wondering why no anybody else is pointing out “These things in fact look really, really stupid.” Plus, most of the exalt centers around the effects and the aspects of filmmaking itself more so than the cinema being interesting or having a machinate. Also, if the trailer line “Yer not in Kansas anymoooahhhhh!!!!” is as a matter of fact in the movie, it’s gonna deceive to be pretty damn awesome the keep on being of the time for me to not be laughing at it constantly.
So what’s the verdict? Are you wonderful-psyched to see Avatar? Highly skeptical of the vast praise? Or just walkin’ in there with no expectations?
Avatar excitedness – withdraw it in the comments.
