OPEN THREAD: Are People Actually Excited About Avatar?
I’m torn on the Avatar get out. While I plan on seeing the flicks anyway, thus making the following deliberation open to debate, I’m still trying to cajole sense of exactly what to contemplate when I walk into that theater (seven hours pioneer, cause that’s what everyone does in this obtuse city).
On one hand, the reviews are unanimously positive, the praise itself has been borderline finest from some circles (”It’s gonna novelty filmmaking so much, this is letter for letter the first movie ever made!!”), and James Cameron, for all that he hasn’t made a blockbuster in a while, definitely hasn’t ever made a painful movie (I’m not a Titanic aficionado, but it’s hard to excuse the most successful film of all term a “bad” movie).
On the other pass on, though, every time I see those filthy people, I feel like the house-servant in The Emperor’s New Clothes wondering why no a particular else is pointing out “These things literally look really, really stupid.” Plus, most of the eulogy centers around the effects and the aspects of filmmaking itself more so than the cinema being interesting or having a cabal. Also, if the trailer line “Yer not in Kansas anymoooahhhhh!!!!” is in point of fact in the movie, it’s gonna maintain to be pretty damn awesome the of the time for me to not be laughing at it constantly.
So what’s the verdict? Are you wonderful-psyched to see Avatar? Highly skeptical of the enduring praise? Or just walkin’ in there with no expectations?
Avatar excitedness – beetle off it in the comments.
